When an airplane is being maintained, a repaired old or failed part can be repaired/overhauled at an FAA Certified Manufacturer or Repair Station and be recertified so that it can be brought back into serviceable condition. These Serviceable parts are usually sold on exchange transactions and can be re-used in another aircraft. Some manufacturers also offer Factory New parts that can be purchased in exchange.
CoresThe used part that is removed during aircraft maintenance and is replaced with the exchange sale part is called a core. These cores are then Rebuilt, Overhauled or Repaired in accordance with FAA rules by manufacturers and FAA Approved Repair Stations.
Core ReturnsLogin to AvFly.com and process your core return on your Orders page. A return shipping label, core return form and core packing list will be generated along with instructions so that you may ship your core back to our AvFly.com sellers.
Core returns or warranty cores returned must be as removed from the engine or aircraft, complete and not have been disassembled and must be the exact same PN and manufacturer as the one purchased on AvFly.com. No core or warranty core credit will be allowed for non-aviation units. Units that are rusty or cannot be overhauled for any reason will be classified as scrap, having no value and no core refund will be issued. Units which have been weld repaired, as well as units which have been disassembled and then reassembled with old parts, will also be classified as scrap, having no value. A percentage of the core value will be charged for all missing or damaged parts. At no time will the damaged or missing parts charge on any unit exceed the core value of that unit. Cores will only be accepted for credit up to 60 days from date of invoice. Cores returned in excess of cores invoiced will not be accepted. Cores must be of like purchase or a direct superseded unit.
Repair/Overhaul Services SalesAvFly.com offers Repair/Overhaul Services sales. These are sales of a service to work on your own spare or unit coming off your Aircraft. Repair/Overhaul Services sales require the buyer to ship his core to the AvFly.com seller to have your unit worked on. Upon completing the checkout process for a Repair/Overhaul Services sale you will be prompted to print out a packing list and Shipping label for the Service you purchased.
Due to the nature of Repair/Overhaul Services and the requirements imposed by repair and overhaul manuals, additional charges may be found to be necessary to legally tag your unit as Serviceable once your core is received and inspected by the AvFly.com seller. These additional charges will be communicated to you by email and, once approved, the Repair/Overhaul Service will proceed. There is a possibility that a unit sent in for Repair/Overhaul Services may be found to be BER (Beyond Economical Repair) even if it was removed from a flying Aircraft, for this reason we ask that you only send units for Repair/Overhaul Services that were flying on an aircraft and known to not have been previously attempted to be repaired. Freight charges will incur on units sent and found to be BER or where additional charges are necessary but not approved by the buyer.
